Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm is a town in Bavaria, Germany, capital of the district Pfaffenhofen. It had a population of 23,282 in the year 2004. The Free State of Bavaria, with an area of 70,553 square kilometers or 27,241 square miles and 12.4 million inhabitants, forms the southernmost state of today's Germany. Its capital is Munich. Pfaffenhofen is a district in Bavaria, Germany. It is bounded by  the districts of Eichstatt, Kelheim, Freising, Dachau and Neuburg Schrobenhausen, and the city of Ingolstadt. The district is located in the Hallertau Plains between the Isar and Danube rivers. The Danube crosses the northernmost part of the district.
