Penzlin is a town in the Muritz district, in Mecklenburg Western Pomerania, Germany. It is situated 13 kilometers from southwest of Neubrandenburg and 27 kilometers from east of Waren. Mecklenburg Western Pomerania is a state in northern Germany. It has an area of 23,170 square kilometers, but has only 1.7 million inhabitants, making it the most sparsely populated German state.
 
Muritz is a district in the southern part of Mecklenburg Western Pomerania, Germany. Neighboring districts are Demmin, Mecklenburg Strelitz, the district free city Neubrandenburg, the district Ostprignitz Ruppin in Brandenburg, Parchim and Gustrow. The district was created on June 12, 1994 by merging the previous districts Robel and Waren, and a few municipalities from the districts Malchin and Neustrelitz.
