Olbernhau is one of the popular destinations in Germany, and is well known its scenery and the quantity of cultural related attractions. It is a town in the district Mittlerer Erzgebirgskreis of the free state of Saxony and is located amidst the Ore Mountains, 35 kilometers southeast of Chemnitz, and 23 kilometers to the north of Chomutov, Czech Republic.
 
The free state of Saxony also known as Freistaat Sachsen in German is a federal state with total land area of 18,413 square kilometers and a population of 4.3 million inhabitants. It is the tenth biggest state in area and sixth largest in population among Germany's sixteen states.

Like some of its sister municipalities and towns in the Mittlerer Erzgebirgskreis, Olbernhau is blessed with beautiful surroundings and a unique natural setting. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of the mountains, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people all combine to make this region one of the most important tourist attractions in Germany.
