Germany is located in Central Europe and it shares borders with Denmark in the North, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and France in the West, Austria and Switzerland in the South and Poland and the Czech Republic in the East. The North Sea and the Baltic Sea represent additional National Borders in the North. The official language of Germany is German and Berlin is the capital. The climate is quite pleasant with almost all variety of seasonal flavors as temperate, marine, cool, cloudy, wet winters and summers, occasional warm, tropical foehn wind and high relative humidity.

Germany is divided into 16 states which are further subdivided into 439 districts and cities. Germany is one of the largest European economy and the third largest economy in the world in real terms, placed behind the United States and Japan, and fifth behind the United States, China, India and Japan counted by purchasing power parity.

The small city of Oberhof, in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district of Thuringia, Germany, is a winter sports center and health resort. It had roughly 1,600 inhabitants in the year 2005, but is visited by tenfold as many tourists every year. The town got its official city status in 1985. Oberhof was settled in 1641, and remained a small town until the late 1800s, when the town was connected to the railroad line from Erfurt to Ritchenhausen, and skiers and other tourists discovered the place. From the early 1900s, Oberhof became a center for winter sports, with bobsleigh, nordic skiing and ski jumping taking place in the town's regularly updated sports facilities. In recent years the town has also seen the construction of lift-equipped alpine skiing slopes and an international competition standard biathlon stadium.

The Free State of Thuringia lies in central Germany and is among the smallest of the country's sixteen federal states, being eleventh in size with an area of 16,200 square kilometers and twelfth most populous with 2.45 million inhabitants. The capital is Erfurt. Thuringia borders on the German states of Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony, Bavaria and Hesse.

Oberhof is definitely one of the popular tourist attractions in Germany. It is worth paying a visit while touring the country. This place leaves a pleasing and unforgettable memory and justifies the proud cultural tradition of Germany.
