Neckargemund is a town in Germany, in the district of Rhein-Neckar-Kreis, state of Baden-Wurttemberg. It rests on the Neckar, 10 kilometers upriver from Heidelberg. As of 2005, there were 14,264 inhabitants. The town encompasses an area of 26.15 square kilometers. It was founded in the 10th century and became a free town in the year 1286. In 1395 it was passed to the elector palatine and, jointly with the surrounding district, became part of Baden in 1814. The town still keeps its medieval charm.
