Schonau is one of the popular destinations in Germany, well known for its beautiful countryside and the quantity of cultural related attractions. It is a town in the district of Rhein Neckar Kreis, in Baden Wurttemberg. Situated in the Odenwald hills, which is 10 kilometers to the northeast of Heidelberg, Schonau enjoys peaceful lifestyle sheltered from the accelerated pace of the large cities. Schonau is also marked by many historical attractions that include salient buildings of neoclassical, modernist, noucentrist and simply eclectic styles.
 
Baden-Wurttemberg, where Schonau lies, is a one of the sixteen federal states of Germany located in the southwestern part of the country and to the east of the Upper Rhine. It is third biggest in both area and population, with an area of 35,742 square kilometers and 10.7 million inhabitants. The state capital is Stuttgart.
