Schlitz is a small town in the Vogelsbergkreis in eastern state of Hesse, located in Germany. The city had a population of 10,243 in 2004, its area is 142.09 square kilometers, population density is 72 per square kilometers and is elevated at 245 meters. The town of Schlitz lies at the outlet of the small river Schlitz on the Fulda.
 
Schlitz was first mentioned in a documentary in 812. For the town's five castles, Schlitz is known throughout Hesse and is so also called the Romantische Burgenstadt Schlitz the Romantic Castle Town of Schlitz. One peculiarity about the town is its so-called Burgenring, or Castle Ring, with the town built on a hill with its gathered castles, towers, lords' houses, the town church and many half-timbered houses presenting a well preserved, compact, historic Old Town.

Schlitz is definitely one of the popular tourist attractions in Germany. It is worth paying a visit while touring the country. This place leaves a pleasing and unforgettable memory and justifies the proud cultural tradition of Germany.
