Munchberg is a small town in Upper Franconia in Germany. It is referred to as the Textile Town of Bavaria. It had a recorded population of 11,549 people as of 2004 in an area of 68.78 squared kilometers. Its population density is 168 people per square kilometers. The first settlement of the area around Munchberg dates back to the 10th century. Its original name was read as Monk Mountain, as its first settlers were monks. The name was changed in the course of time and documents first mentioned Munchberg around 1224. Between 1938 and 1978, Munchberg was the district town of the same name.

Munchberg, due its various places of interest is one of the most visited places. It is also said the place of best geographical environment and can trace its origins back to prehistoric times.
