Mucheln is a town in the Merseburg-Querfurt district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is situated 15 kilometers west of Merseburg. It is part of the Verwaltungs gemein schaft, collective municipality of Oberes Geiseltal. Saxony-Anhalt is one of the sixteen Bundeslander, which makes up the Federal Republic of Germany. It has an area of 20,447 squared kilometers, and a population of 2.6 million inhabitants. Its capital is Magdeburg and its name is sometimes spelled as Saxony Anhalt in English.
