Mansfeld is a town in the Mansfelder Land district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is located on the river Wipper, roughly 10 kilometers northwest of Eisleben. Martin Luther grew up in Mansfeld. Saxony-Anhalt is one of the sixteen Bundeslander that is federal states that make up the Federal Republic of Germany. It has an area of 20,447 square kilometers and a population of 2.6 million inhabitants. Its capital is Magdeburg.
