Brandenburg is one of Germany's sixteen Bundeslander, federal states. It is situated on the east of the country as it is one of the new states created in 1990 after the merging of the earlier West Germany and East Germany. Its capital is Potsdam and Brandenburg surrounds but excludes the national capital of Berlin. Historically, Brandenburg was a sovereign state that became the core of modern Germany.

Presently, Lychen experiences a sharp social, economic and population growth derivative of the strategic position of the locality and the high level of well-being and quality of life that is enjoyed with respect to other places of Germany. This fact has consolidated along with other adjacent municipalities, as a great alternative for residence.
