Lutjenburg is a town in the district of Plon, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated approximately 18 kilometers northeast of Plon and 30 kilometers east of Kiel. Schleswig-Holstein is the northernmost region of the 16 Bundeslander’s in Germany. Its earlier English name was Sleswick-Holsatia and its Danish name is Slesvig-Holsten. Its German name is Sleswig-Holsteen, and the North Frisian name is Slaswik-Holstiinj. Previously, its name was used to refer a larger area, containing the present Schleswig-Holstein and the South Jutland County in Denmark.
 
Like some of its sister municipalities and towns, Lutjenburg is blessed with beautiful surroundings and a unique natural setting. The picturesque scenery, the majesty of the mountains, the slow pace of life, and the welcoming nature of its people all combine to make this region one of the most important tourist attractions in Germany.
