Lugau is a town in the district Stollberg, bounded by, from the north and clockwise, the district-free city Chemnitz, and the districts Mittlerer Erzgebirgskreis, Annaberg, Aue-Schwarzenberg, Zwickauer Land and Chemnitzer Land, a district in the Free State of Saxony, the tenth-largest in area and sixth-largest in population among Germany's sixteen states.
 
Lugau is situated 17 kilometers east of Zwickau, a city of Germany, in the Bundesland Saxony or Sachsen, situated in a valley at the foot of the Erzgebirge and 17 kilometers southwest of Chemnitz, a city in the Free State of Saxony, Germany. It is located in the northern foothills of the Ore Mountains.
 
Tourism in Germany has expanded since the end of World War II, and many tourists visit Germany to experience a sense of European history. The countryside exhibits a pastoral aura, while its cities exhibit both a modern and classical feel.
