Kamenz Sorbian Kamjenc is a Lusatian municipality which is in eastern state Saxony, located in Germany, with a population of 18,243 and is the capital of the Kamenz district. The city is located about 40 kilometers northeast of Dresden and about 30 kilometers northwest of Bautzen. The city has an area of 53.15 square kilometers.  
 
In discovered history of city, today it has located in old town a castle has been build to secure the crossing of route Via Regia and river Schwarze Elster at the end of the 12th century. The Via Regia was an important trade route between Belgium and Silesia. It has four Evangelical churches, among them a handsome new town-hall with a library.

A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages, Kamenz is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
