Eschwege (Hesse)

Germany is located in Central Europe and it shares borders with Denmark in the North, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and France in the West, Austria and Switzerland in the South and Poland and the Czech Republic in the East. The North Sea and the Baltic Sea represent additional National Borders in the North. The official language of Germany is German and Berlin is the capital. The climate is quite pleasant with almost all variety of seasonal flavors as temperate, marine, cool, cloudy, wet winters and summers, occasional warm, tropical foehn wind and high relative humidity.

Germany is divided into 16 states which are further subdivided into 439 districts and cities. Germany is one of the largest European economy and the third largest economy in the world in real terms, placed behind the United States and Japan, and fifth behind the United States, China, India and Japan counted by purchasing power parity.

Eschwege is a town in the state of Hesse, Germany, positioned on the river Werra. It is the capital of the Werra-Meibner-Kreis district. Eschwege is the home of famed four day music and drinking festival called the Johannisfest, which attracts numerous thousand visitors and is said to be the top showcase of the quaint town besides the Open Flair, the greatest music festival in the whole region.

There is also a very interesting Heimatmuseum in the town, located in the picturesque old town, which has a market place bordered by framework houses. The old castle of the Landgrafen of Hesse today houses the district administration and is also famous for the Dietemann, the figure of a man with a horn, the symbol of the Eschweger, which is positioned in the castle tower and appears every hour to blow its horn. Also attractive are the views along the river Werra. To the east, the town is surrounded by the Leuchtberg, the mountain of the town, which towers high over the town. In the river valley, the so-called Eschwege basin, a collection of lakes, has come into life. To the West, there is the Meibner Mountain rising up to 750 meters.

Eschwege is definitely one of the popular tourist attractions in Germany. It is worth paying a visit while touring the country. This place leaves a pleasing and unforgettable memory and justifies the proud cultural tradition of Germany.
