Dillingen is a town in the district of Saarlouis, in Saarland, Germany. It is located on the river Saar, roughly 5 kilometers northwest of Saarlouis, and 25 kilometers northwest of Saarbrucken. Saarland is one of the 16 states of Germany. The capital is Saarbrucken. It has an area of 2570 square kilometers and 1.08 million inhabitants. In both area and population it is the least of the German Flachenlander that is those that are not City States including Berlin, Bremen and Hamburg.
