Coswig is a town in the district of Meissen, it is situated in the Free State of Saxony, which is in Germany. It is situated on the right bank of the Elbe, approximately 9 kilometers southeast of Meiben, and 13 kilometers northwest of Dresden. The Free State of Saxony is a federal state of Germany. It has a land area of 18,413 square kilometer and a population of 4.3 million, the tenth-largest in area and sixth-largest in population among Germany's sixteen states.

Saxony has a long history as a duchy, and eventually kingdom. The capital city of Saxony is Dresden. Other major cities include Leipzig and Chemnitz. Saxony borders, from the east and clockwise, on Poland, the Czech Republic and the German states of Bavaria, Thuringia, Saxony-Anhalt and Brandenburg. Its capital is Dresden, and the other principal cities are Leipzig and Chemnitz. Tourism is not well developed in Saxony. The potentially more attractive regions are the ones shared with Czech Republic, including Lusatian Mountains, Ore Mountains, Saxon Switzerland, and Vogtland.

Coswig can also be considered as the preeminent, historical and potential tourism destination that enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers to become one of the most visited places.
