Coswig is a town in the Anhalt-Zerbst district, which is bounded by, from the north and clockwise the districts Potsdam-Mittelmark or Brandenburg and Wittenberg, the city of Dessau and the districts of Kothen, Schonebeck and Jerichower Land, which is in the state Saxony-Anhalt, which lies to the northeast of central Germany, it is eighth largest in area tenth in population among the country's sixteen Bundeslander or federal states.
