Biberach is one of the popular destinations in Germany, and is well known for the quantity of cultural related attractions and monuments that the city has embraced. Standing as the capital of the district Biberach in Baden-Wurttemberg, Biberach is so called after the small river Rib which flows through the city. Stretching over a total land area of 72.16 square kilometers, Biberach listed a total population of 32,335 inhabitants as of 2005 census and a population density of 448 inhabitants per square kilometer.
 
Initially, for several centuries, Biberach was an Imperial Free City in the Holy Roman Empire. In that role it participated in the 1792 Reichstag. In 1803, Biberach was annexed by the Grand Duchy of Baden and later it was traded to the Kingdom of Wurttemberg in 1806. However, it became part of the Empire of Germany officially in 1871.
 
Presently, Biberach experiences a sharp social, economic and population growth derivative of the strategic position of the locality and the high level of well-being and quality of life that is enjoyed with respect to other places of Germany. This fact has consolidated along with other adjacent municipalities, as a great alternative for residence.
