Bernkastel-Kues is a town over 700 years old, located on the Middle Moselle river in the district of Bernkastel-Wittlich, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Bernkastel-Kues is also the seat of the Verbandsgemeinde Bernkastel-Kues, which consists of the Ortsgemeinden are Bernkastel-Kues, Brauneberg, Burgen, Erden, Gornhausen, Graach an der Mosel, Hochscheid, Kesten, Kleinich, and Kommen. The main industries in Bernkastel-Kues are viticulture and tourism.
 
Bernkastel-Kues is very famous for its wines and the mediaeval market square. The square is surrounded by many well preserved half-timbered houses as well as the Renaissance city hall built in 1608. Especially well-known is the very small and narrow so-called Spitzhauschen which dates back to the year 1416. At the centre of the market square lies the fountain of St. Michael. In the vicinity of the market square the bear fountain can be found. It was build on the site of the former bear well. The Doctor Fountain depicts scenes of the ancient saga about a local wine, the famous Bernkasteler Doctor.
 
Bernkastel-Kues is home the vineyard locations, some of which are world famous namely Andeler Goldschatz, Bernkasteler Bratenhofchen, Bernkasteler Badstube, Bernkasteler Johannisbrunnchen, Bernkasteler Doctor, Bernkasteler Graben, Bernkasteler Matheisbildchen, Bernkastel-Kueser Kardinalsberg, and Bernkastel-Kueser Rosenberg.
 
Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and gain enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace. Bernkastel-Kues enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers.
