Arendsee is a small city in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is also a lake. The population of the city Arendsee was 2,925 in 2005 with the area of 33.84 square kilometers. Arendsee city area was first mentioned in 1184.
 
The city is situated in the Altmark region and in the southern bank of Lake Arendsee. This lake is 23.3 meter above sea level; its area is 5.115 kilometer and its depth nearly 50 meters. It is the biggest and deepest natural lake in Saxony-Anhalt.

A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages, Arendsee is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
