Altenau is a town in the district of Goslar, in Lower Saxony, which is located in Germany. It is situated in the middle of the Harz, between Clausthal-Zellerfeld and the Brocken. It is part of the Samtgemeinde collective municipality Oberharz. The 3000 of inhabitants are located in the city.
