Munster

Germany is located in Central Europe and it shares borders with Denmark in the North, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and France in the West, Austria and Switzerland in the South and Poland and the Czech Republic in the East. The North Sea and the Baltic Sea represent additional National Borders in the North. The official language of Germany is German and Berlin is the capital. The climate is quite pleasant with almost all variety of seasonal flavors as temperate, marine, cool, cloudy, wet winters and summers, occasional warm, tropical foehn wind and high relative humidity.

Munster is a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located in the northern part of the state and is considered to be the cultural centre of the Westphalia region. In 793, Charlemagne sent out to convert the Saxons with whom he had been battling. Liudger was a product of Utrecht and the York school of Ethelbert, which produced many of the clerics who served in Charlemagne's chancelry. He built his church and cloister on the right bank of the Aa, on the height called the Horsteberg. It was the monastery from which Munster derives its name.

In the middle ages, Munster was a leading member of the Hanseatic League. The signing of the Peace of Westphalia of 1648 at Munster and Osnabruck ended the thirty years war and was one of the foundations upon which modern Europe was built. In 1780, the University of Munster today called Westphalian Wilhelms-University, WWU was established, now a major European centre for excellence in education and research with large faculties in the arts, humanities, theology, sciences, business and law. In 2003, Munster hosted the Central European Olympiad in Informatics, CEOI. In 2004, Munster won the LivCom-Award for Liveable Communities.

Munster, justifiably so, enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers, and is one of the most visited place. It is also said the place of best geographical environment and can trace its origin back to prehistoric times. Presently, Munster experiences a sharp social, economic and population growth derivative of the strategic position of the locality and the high level of well-being and quality of life that is enjoyed with respect to other places of Germany.
