Saarlouis




Germany is located in Central Europe and it shares borders with Denmark in the North, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and France in the West, Austria and Switzerland in the South and Poland and the Czech Republic in the East. The North Sea and the Baltic Sea represent additional National Borders in the North. The official language of Germany is German and Berlin is the capital. Germany is divided into 16 states which are further subdivided into 439 districts and cities. Germany is one of the largest European economy and the third largest economy in the world in real terms, placed behind the United States and Japan, and fifth behind the United States, China, India and Japan counted by purchasing power parity.
 
Saarlouis is a municipality in the Saarland, Germany and a capital of the district of Saarlouis. Saarlouis, as the name implies, is located at the river Saar. In 2005, the population of the city was 38,372. It was well-known for its nearby steel and iron ore production and its nearby mining facilities. At present, the Ford Motor Company is the city's biggest employer, producing the Ford Focus and other models world-wide. The city is located only 20 minutes drive from France and 45 minutes from Luxembourg City, the capital of Luxembourg.
Even today, the ancient fort dominates the city's hexagonal floor plan. Beside the buildings made by Vauban, there are also some constructions left from the 19th century when the Prussians got control over the town. A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages, Saarlouis is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
