Mannheim




Germany is located in Central Europe and it shares borders with Denmark in the North, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and France in the West, Austria and Switzerland in the South and Poland and the Czech Republic in the East. Germany is divided into 16 states which are further subdivided into 439 districts and cities. Germany is one of the largest European economy and the third largest economy in the world in real terms, placed behind the United States and Japan, and fifth behind the United States, China, India and Japan counted by purchasing power parity.
 
Mannheim is a city in Germany with 307,640 inhabitants. It is the second largest city in the state of Baden-Wurttemberg after the capital Stuttgart. It is located at the union of the rivers Rhine and Neckar, in the northwestern corner of the state of Baden-Württemberg. One of the unique aspects of the city is that its central area is laid out in a grid pattern.
 
The successor to the Karl Benz automobile manufacturing companies begun in this city, DaimlerChrysler has had a huge presence in Mannheim. At present, trucks and buses are assembled there. The Swiss Roche Diagnostic group also has its division headquarters in Mannheim. In addition, the city also hosts large factories, offices including Bilfinger Berger, Bombardier, Fuchs Petrolub, John Deere, Siemens, Sudzucker and other companies as well.
