Germany is divided into 16 states which are further subdivided into 439 districts and cities. Germany is one of the largest European economy and the third largest economy in the world in real terms, placed behind the United States and Japan, and fifth behind the United States, China, India and Japan counted by purchasing power parity.
 
Mainz is a city situated on the left bank of the river Rhine, opposite the confluence of the Main River with the Rhine. Its population as per 2002 census was estimated at 183,822. It is a city in Germany and the capital of the German federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate and is located across the Rhine from Wiesbaden, in the western branch of the Frankfurt Rhine Main Area. The city was one of three important centers of Jewish theology and learning during the Middle Ages. The city also played an important role in the propagation and preservation of Talmudic scholarship. The city is well-known for its Carnival which is the Mainzer Fassenacht and has developed since the early 19th century.
 
A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, luxurious hotels and cottages, Mainz is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
