Lohne

Lohne is a town and a municipality in the district of Herford, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated on the river Werre, approximately 8 kilometers to the north of Herford and 20 kilometers to the south-west of Minden. Lohne consists of five boroughs such as Gohfeld, Lohne-Ort, Mennighuffen, Obernbeck and Ulenburg. The city had a population of 43,161 as of 2005. The area of the city is 59.41 square kilometers with a population density of 727 per kilometer.
 
Geographically, Lohne lies in the Ravensberger hollow. The largest supply in the city is of mill brook, which forms the approximate border between Obernbeck and Mennighueffen. Those quarters are appropriate north, for Gohfeld, wage station and wage place south the Werre. To the north the area rises rather gently, toward the south more strongly rising from the river valley.
