Reutlingen

Reutlingen is a city in Baden-Wurttemberg, which is located in Germany. It is the capital of the same-named district Reutlingen. As of September 2004, it had a population of 109939 and in year of 2005, the population was 112099. The city has an area of 87.06 square kilometers with a population density of 1,288 square kilometers. Reutlingen has a university of applied sciences, which was founded in 1855, originally as a weaver's school. The city is elevated at about 380 meters above the sea level. It lies right next to the Swabian Jura, hence why it is often called the gate to the Swabian Jura.
 
In discovered history of Reutlingen, it was the first settlements in the area are believed to date from the 4th or 5th century. The name Reutlingen was first mentioned in writing in the so-called Bempflingen Treaty. Reutlingen became a city of the Holy Roman Empire, and therefore subject to the Holy Roman Emperor rather than the Duke of Wurttemberg. Reutlingen's city council signed the Augsburg Confession in 1530 and the Formula of Concord in 1580.
