Nordhorn is a city in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is the capital of the County of Bentheim. It is located at the river Vechte, at the southwest of Lower Saxony at the border to the Netherlands and to the German state North Rhine-Westphalia. The next city near Nordhorn is Enschede about 25 kilometers southwest, Munster about 75 kilometers southeast and Osnabruck around 85 kilometers east. Nordhorn was previously the site of three textile manufacturers Povel, NINO, and Rawe. The city has an area of 149.64 kilometers and a population of 53,084 as per the 2005 census.
