Friedrichshafen

Germany is located in Central Europe and it shares borders with Denmark in the North, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and France in the West, Austria and Switzerland in the South and Poland and the Czech Republic in the East. The North Sea and the Baltic Sea represent additional National Borders in the North. The official language of Germany is German and Berlin is the capital. The climate is quite pleasant with almost all variety of seasonal flavors as temperate, marine, cool, cloudy, wet winters and summers, occasional warm, tropical foehn wind and high relative humidity.

Friedrichshafen is a town on the northern side of Lake Constance in southern Germany and borders with Switzerland and Austria. It is the capital of the Bodensee district in the federal state of Baden in Wurttemberg. It has its geographical co-ordinates at 47 degree north and 9 degree east. As on 2004, it recorded a population of 57,680 inhabitants. It is well known for having the Zeppelin airship company and the Dornier Flugzeugwerke as the manufacturers of transmission systems. Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin, who was born in Konstanz had his airships built in a floating assembly hall on the lake which could be associated with the wind to support the difficult starting procedure.

Friedrichshafen had construction of airships in the first third of the 20th century. It attracted many industries and added to its prosperity. It also made the city vulnerable to air strikes by the Allied Forces in the later part of World War II that completely destroyed its historical centre. Apart from industry and tourism, many commercial exhibitions like aero aviation technology, InterBoot water sports and EuroBike are vital economical factors. Friedrichshafen’s Graf-Zeppelin-Haus cultural centre has become a popular location for congresses, conferences, and other activities.

Friedrichshafen enjoys regular-interval train services to Lindau and Ulm, along with Basel in Switzerland. A car ferry service links Friedrichshafen to Romanshorn in Switzerland and many other towns around the lake can be reached by ferry. It is considered as a preeminent, historical and potential tourism destination that enjoys a positive reputation with worldwide travelers to become one of the most visited places.
