Frechen




Germany is located in Central Europe and it shares borders with Denmark in the North, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and France in the West, Austria and Switzerland in the South and Poland and the Czech Republic in the East. The North Sea and the Baltic Sea represent additional National Borders in the North. The official language of Germany is German and Berlin is the capital. The climate is quite pleasant with almost all variety of seasonal flavors as temperate, marine, cool, cloudy, wet winters and summers, occasional warm, tropical foehn wind and high relative humidity.
 
Germany is divided into 16 states which are further subdivided into 439 districts and cities. Germany is one of the largest European economy and the third largest economy in the world in real terms, placed behind the United States and Japan, and fifth behind the United States, China, India and Japan counted by purchasing power parity.
 
Frechen is a town and a municipality in the Rhein-Erft-Kreis, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It was first mentioned in 877. It is located approximately 10 kilometers west of Cologne. In the 1500s it acquired a name for its terra cotta artifacts, particularly the Bartmannskrug. Digging for lignite dominated the city's economy until the end of the 20th century. The city’s population was 48,654 as of 2004 in an area of 45.11 square kilometers. Its population density is 1079 square kilometers and the city is elevated at 158 meters.
 
In the year 1891 the first briquette factory was founded. On 2nd September 1951 Frechen received its city-rights that included the towns of Buschbell and Bachem. On 1st January 1975 the close by villages of Habbelrath, Grefrath, Konigsdorf and Neufreimersdorf were also included. At present it has 48.654 inhabitants as per December 31st, 2004.
 
A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, luxurious hotels and cottages, Frechen is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
