The North Sea and the Baltic Sea represent additional National Borders in the North. The official language of Germany is German and Berlin is the capital.

Germany is divided into 16 states which are further subdivided into 439 districts and cities. Germany is one of the largest European economy and the third largest economy in the world in real terms, placed behind the United States and Japan, and fifth behind the United States, China, India and Japan counted by purchasing power parity.

Essen is a German city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages. It is also one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers. It is located on the Ruhr River and is the part of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is the second largest city of the Ruhr area and is the eighth largest city in Germany.

According to the precious archaeological findings, Essen was first populated around the 845 century as a monastery for women. It was among the most important monasteries in the 10th century, when it was led by Mathilde, a granddaughter of emperor Otto I, and two other women who were related to the Ottonian emperors. After the end of the Ottonian dynasty, Essen lost its vitality and sustained a rather trivial agricultural town until the 19th century.

The mining of coal and ore led to the growth of the city and of the entire Ruhr area. After having undergone major economic changes after World War II, Essen now hosts a high-class college of art, many industrial sites and a major collection of art. Recent investments attracted by the climate, soil, and altitude combination have transformed it into one of the important centers in Germany.

Essen is also a place with best geographical environment and can trace its origins back to prehistoric times. This is evident from the archaeological sites found throughout the city. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and pursue enthusiasm in its natural beauty and populace.
