Eisenach




Germany is located in Central Europe and it shares borders with Denmark in the North, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and France in the West, Austria and Switzerland in the South and Poland and the Czech Republic in the East. The North Sea and the Baltic Sea represent additional National Borders in the North. The official language of Germany is German and Berlin is the capital. The climate is quite pleasant with almost all variety of seasonal flavors as temperate, marine, cool, cloudy, wet winters and summers, occasional warm, tropical foehn wind and high relative humidity.
 
Eisenach is a city in Thuringia, Germany, which is located between the northern foothills of the Thuringian Forest and the Hainich National Park. It had a population of 43,915 inhabitants as of 2004 census. The past of Eisenach is connected with Wartburg castle that was constructed as per the legend in 1067. There were three settlements below the castle, which merged to a common city in the second half of the 12th century. Eisenach was initially mentioned in 1180. Many legendary activities took place on the Wartburg in few decades, best known is the Singers Contest on the Wartburg.
 
Eisenach became subject to the Wettin dynasty of Meissen and many mini states were established in Thuringia. It became a principality on its own in 1521 and in 1751, it lost its independence and became part of the duchy of Saxony-Weimar. Eisenach was the place where Martin Luther lived as a child, although he was not born there. Later he received protection by Frederick the Wise after having been pursued for his religious views. It was while he was staying at Wartburg Castle when he translated the New Testament in German.  The town is famous as the birthplace of Johann Sebastian Bach as well.
 
Eisenach is known as a town with best geographical environment and has traced its origins back to prehistoric times. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and can also enjoy its natural beauty concealed by the beautiful landscapes.
