Germany is located in Central Europe and it shares borders with Denmark in the North, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and France in the West, Austria and Switzerland in the South and Poland and the Czech Republic in the East. The North Sea and the Baltic Sea represent additional National Borders in the North. The official language of Germany is German and Berlin is the capital. Duisburg is a German city in the western part of the Ruhr Area in Westphalia. It is an independent metropolitan borough in Regierungsbezirk Dusseldorf. With the biggest inland harbour in Europe and its proximity to Dusseldorf International Airport, it has become an important place for commerce and steel production. From the 1960s, the University of Duisburg has educated students from all over the world.
 
Duisburg is the largest inland port in Europe and is officially regarded as a seaport as sea-going river vessels go to ports in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Many docks are located at the mouth of River Ruhr. It is connected to the German Autobahn system and five such roads extend in city area or pass it. Its main station is serviced by the InterCityExpress and InterCity long-distance network of the Deutsche Bahn.
 
Duisburg hosts several cultural facilities and events. It has a yearly festival, Duisburger Akzente that focuses on social, political and cultural topics. Duisburg is involved in lots of sports and it received a brandnew sports stadium for different types of sports like soccer and football.
 
Duisburg is known as a town with best geographical environment and has traced its origins back to prehistoric times. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and can also enjoy its natural beauty concealed by the beautiful landscapes.
