It has an area of 100.07 square kilometers and a population of 55,020 inhabitants as per the 2003 census and the population was 56,301 as per the 2004 census. Its total land area is 100.07 square kilometers and its population density is 551 people per square kilometer. This city is elevated at 72 meters above the mean sea level. The city, known for its saltwater and thermal baths is an old city with a lot of historical buildings.
