Traunreut is a small city in the south-eastern part of Bavaria, Germany in the Traunstein district. It is situated in the heart of the region called Chiemgau amid Munich and Salzburg roughly 10 kilometers east of the lake Chiemsee, 25 kilometers north of the Alps, and 35 kilometers west of Salzburg.
 
The city has a population of approximately 22,000 inhabitants and is a center of shopping and industry that include names like Siteco Beleuchtungstechnik, Dr. Johannes Heidenhain LLC for optical equipment and precision engineering, Bosch-Siemens for household equipment, high-tech stoves and microwaves and other midsize companies as well. The city’s population was 21,245 as per 2005, area is 45.0 square kilometers, population density is 492 per square kilometers and is elevated at 552 meters.
