Tharandt is a municipality in Saxony, Germany, passionately located on the Wilde Weisseritz, 9 miles southwest of Dresden, on the Dresden-Reichenbach railway. It has a Protestant church, a hydropathic establishment and the oldest academy of forestry in Germany, founded by Heinrich Cotta in 1811, with about sixty students. Tharandt is a preferred summer resort of the people of Dresden, one of its principal charms being the superb beech woods which surround it.
 
The Free State of Saxony is a federal state of Germany. It has a land area of 18,413 square kilometers and a population of 4.3 million, the tenth largest in area and sixth largest in population among Germany's sixteen states.        
 
A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages, Tharandt is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
