Thale is a municipality in the district of Quedlinburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is located on the river Bode, approximately 8 kilometers west of Quedlinburg. In 2005, the population of the city was 12,903 and an area of 38.13 square kilometers. Saxony-Anhalt is one of the sixteen federal states that make up the Federal Republic of Germany. It has an area of 20,447 square kilometers and a population of 2.6 million. Its capital is Magdeburg.
