Straelen is a city and a municipality in the district of Cleves in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated near the border with the Netherlands, approximately 10 kilometers north-east of Venlo. North Rhine-Westphalia is in terms of population and economic output, is the biggest Federal State of Germany. North Rhine-Westphalia has over 18 million inhabitants, and comprises a land area of 34,083 square kilometers. North Rhine-Westphalia is located in the Western part of Germany and shares borders with Belgium and the Netherlands. The capital city is Dusseldorf; other major cities are Cologne, Essen, Dortmund, Duisburg, Bielefeld, Bonn, Bochum, Munster and Wuppertal.
