Pappenheim is a town in the Weissenburg-Gunzenhausen district, Kreis or district in the west of Bavaria, the southernmost state of today's Germany. Weissenburg-Gunzenhausen’s Neighboring districts are, from the north clockwise, Ansbach, Roth, Eichstatt and Donau-Ries. Pappenheim is situated on the river Altmuhl, a tributary of the Danube approximately 230 kilometers in length in Bavaria, Germany. Pappenheim is 11 kilometers south of Weissenburg in Bayern which is in central Bavaria, in the south of the administrative region Mittelfranken.
