Oelsnitz is a municipality in the district Stollberg, in the Free State of Saxony, Germany. It is located 14 kilometers from east of Zwickau and 20 kilometers from southwest of Chemnitz. The Free State of Saxony is a federal state of Germany. It has a land area of 18,413 square kilometers and a population of 4.3 million, the tenth largest in area and sixth largest in population among Germany's sixteen states.
The city Oelsnitz is been a middle industrial city because of the bank of the white Elster and forms a wonderful starting point for trips in the Saxonian, bohmische, Bavarian and Thuringian Vogtland. The place Oelsnitz was mentioned for the first time in the year 1200 and 1357 as city.
