Steinbach-Hallenberg is a town in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district, in Thuringia, Germany. It is situated in the Thuringian Forest, 8 kilometers east of Schmalkalden, and 13 kilometers northwest of Suhl. The Free State of Thuringia lies in central Germany and is among the smallest of the country's sixteen Bundeslander, being eleventh in size with an area of 16,200 square kilometers and twelfth most populous with 2.45 million inhabitants. Thuringia borders the German states of Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony, Bavaria and Hesse.
