Neubukow is a municipality in the district of Bad Doberan, in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. It is situated 18 kilometers southwest of Bad Doberan and 21 kilometers northeast of Wismar. The archeologist Heinrich Schliemann was born in Neubukow. Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is a state in northern Germany. It has an area of 23,170 square kilometers, but has only 1.7 million inhabitants, making it the most lightly populated German state. The Baltic Sea's beaches and islands, as well as the many lakes in the interior, draw many tourists every year. There are two universities and a number of universities of applied sciences. The biggest cities are Rostock, Schwerin, Neubrandenburg, Stralsund, Wismar and Greifswald.
