Sprockhovel is one of the popular destinations in Germany, well known for its beautiful countryside and the quantity of cultural related attractions. It is a town in the Ennepe Ruhr district of the North Rhine Westphalia state. Located in the southern part and a suburb of the Ruhr area, Sprockhovel is positioned at an altitude of 219 meters above the sea level and stretches over an area of 47.78 square kilometers with population of 26,624 inhabitants as of 2004 census.
 
Sprockhovel boasts a rich past and was first mentioned in a documentary around the 1000 century. Over the centuries, it was bordered by Duchy of Berg in the Berg. Its cultural influence are still visible today in the historical part. Today's Sprockhovel city was resulted from the local reform on January 1, 1975.

Presently, Sprockhovel experiences a boom with worldwide tourists, owing to the clear air, town character with rich culture, high quality of life and conspicuously original history.
