Rockenhausen is a town and a municipality in the Donnersbergkreis, a district or Kreis in the middle of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Its neighboring districts are Bad Kreuznach, Alzey-Worms, Bad Durkheim, Kaiserslautern, and Kusel. Rockenhausen is situated on the river Alsenz, a tributary to the Nahe in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany rising in Enkenbach-Alsenborn, north-east of Kaiserslautern, and flowing generally north to join the Nahe in Bad Munster am Stein-Ebernburg. Rockenhausen is situated approximately 20 kilometers north of Kaiserslautern and it is also the seat of the Verbandsgemeinde or collective municipality of Rockenhausen.
