Mechernich is a town and a municipality in the district of Euskirchen in the state of North Rhine Westphalia, Germany. It is situated in the Eifel hills, approximately 15 kilometers from south west of Euskirchen. In terms of population and economic output, North Rhine-Westphalia is the largest Federal State of Germany. North Rhine-Westphalia has over 18 million inhabitants, contributes about 22 percent of Germany's gross domestic product and has a land area of 34,083 square kilometers. North Rhine Westphalia is situated in the Western part of Germany and shares boundaries with Belgium and the Netherlands.
