Germany is divided into 16 states which are further subdivided into 439 districts and cities. Germany is one of the largest European economy and the third largest economy in the world in real terms, placed behind the United States and Japan, and fifth behind the United States, China, India and Japan counted by purchasing power parity.
 
Mayen is a town 16 miles west from Koblenz, Germany. It lies in the Mayen Koblenz district of Rhineland Palatinate, on the northern declivity of the Eifel range, and the railway connecting Andernach and Gerolstein passes through it. Its population in 1905 was 13,435 residents. It is still partly surrounded by medieval walls, and the ruins of a castle rise above the town. In Mayen town there are some small industries, embracing textile manufactures, oil mills and tanneries, as well as a trade in wine, while near the town are extensive quarries of basalt. Having been a Roman settlement, Mayen became a town in 1291. In 1689, it was destroyed by the French.
 
Rhineland Palatinate is one of 16 federal states of Germany. It has an area of 19,846 square kilometer and about four million inhabitants. The capital is Mainz. The population of the city Mayen was 19,428 in the year 2004 with an area of 58.04 square kilometers and it’s population density was 355 per square kilometers. The elevation of the city is 230 meters.
