Waltershausen is a town in the district of Gotha, Thuringia, Germany. The town has a population of 11,475 in December 2003. The free state of Thuringia lies in central Germany and is among the smallest of the country's sixteen federal states, being eleventh in size with an area of 16,200 square kilometers and twelfth most populous with 2.45 million inhabitants. The capital of the town is Erfurt.

Gotha is a district in the middle of Thuringia, Germany. Its neighboring districts are Unstrut Hainich, Sommerda, the district free city Erfurt, Ilm Kreis, Schmalkalden Meiningen and the Wartburgkreis. The district was established on October 1, 1922, when the newly created state of Thuringia was administratively divided into 15 districts and 9 district free cities. Waltershausen, due its various places of interest is one of the most visited places. It is also said the place of best geographical environment and can trace its origins back to prehistoric times.
