Viechtach is a town in the district of Regen, and is in state Bavaria, located in Germany. It is situated on the river Schwarzer Regen, 31 kilometers northwest of Straubing. The Free State of Bavaria in German it called as Freistaat Bayern, with an area of 70,553 square kilometers and 12.4 million inhabitants, forms the southernmost state of today's Germany. Bavaria shares international borders with Austria and the Czech Republic as well as with Switzerland. Two major rivers flow through the state, the Danube that is Donau and the Main. Bavaria has a unicameral Landtag, or state parliament, elected by universal suffrage.
