Marbach am Neckar is a town on the river Neckar in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. The nearest larger cites are Ludwigsburg and Stuttgart. Marbach is known as the birth place of the traditional poet and dramatist, Friedrich Schiller. Even though Schiller moved away as a child, he is commemorated in Marbach by the Schiller National Museum and German Literature Archive, one of the major archives of literature history in the country.
 
This town has a pleasing centre with several churches where the older one is from the 16th century and several historical houses, including the house in which Schiller was born. The city’s population was 15,431 as of 2004, area is 18.06 square kilometers, and population density is 854 per square kilometers and is elevated at 224 meters.
